Melbourne’s most glamorous sporting event, the Spring Racing Carnival, is a highlight on every Melburnians social and sporting calendar.
Whether you are travelling to the hotel especially to enjoy the Carnival or are in the city for business you will get swept up in the excitement and magic of Spring in Melbourne as we celebrate in the hotel.
We will be curating three life size art horses to set the scene in the hotel during the Carnival – two will greet you as you arrive in the lobby and one gracing Bluestone Wine Lounge. The life size horses, sourced from Oz Link Entertainment, are a truly artistic expression of the glamour and excitement of the racing season in Melbourne. Did you know that each day of the Spring Racing Carnival has its own flower? On Derby Day the blue cornflower is the star and then it is all about the rose. Melbourne Cup is iconic for the yellow rose, Oaks Day the pink rose and Stakes Day the red rose. On each of the four main race days these flowers will be available to male guests leaving the hotel to pin to their lapels.
To make sure you are looking your best we will have the experts on hand to help. Rakis on Collins will be setting up a pop-up glamour lounge in the History Room on Derby Day and Cup Day to ensure your hair is perfectly coiffed for a day at the races.
