Mr Theodore Fink – “A Man of Many Talents”
A man of many talents, Mr Theodore Fink had several accomplishments throughout the timeline of his Melbourne career, one of which crossed paths with the Rialto in its very earliest days 1890. Mr Fink rented an apartment within the Rialto building to house his prosperous law firm with partner Robert W Best, which was rightly named, Fink and Best.
Despite having a very successful legal practice within the Rialto for many years, Theodore was swayed by his cunning brother to invest in land. This proved to be catastrophic for Fink and Best, as it brought their law firm close to bankruptcy when the land market crashed in 1891.
Fink and Best scrapped through the land market crash, changed their name to Best Hooper Solicitors and to this day remains one of the oldest law firms in Melbourne, recently crowned First Tier Leading Planning Law Firm by Doyle’s Guide in 2015.
Prior to starting Fink and Best, Theodore Fink stayed true to his reputation of being a man of many talents. He was the director of Herald and Sportsman Newspaper Co. Ltd, opened Fink and Best in the Rialto, moved on into parliament in 1894 and then traded as an educationist in 1902.
Theodore Fink’s Melbourne career is truly inspirational and one can say his greatest accomplishment was establishing Fink and Best in the Rialto.
