Celebrate Harry Potter with a Magical Façade Package

To celebrate Harry Potter and the Cursed Child coming to Melbourne in 2019, InterContinental Melbourne The Rialto are inviting Harry Potter fans to experience “The Magic Behind The Facade”.

Stay to discover the magic of enchanting rooms and suites, hidden arches and lead light windows, mysterious cocktails and theatrical pre-theatre dining menu.

Here on prestigious Collins Street, the hotel’s façade is a stunning example of 1890s neo-Gothic and Queen Anne style architecture combined with a luxurious modern interior. The perfect combination for any diehard Harry Potter fan, to stay overnight in a building that marks a strong resemblance to the facade of the legendary Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Located on prestigious Collins Street, guests are invited to stay in the five star luxury hotel’s stunning guestrooms and suites featuring arch windows and balcony terraces looking into the atrium, to suites featuring romantic gothic-style turrets and imagine they are in their own Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw or Slytherin dormitory.

The hotel’s Club InterContinental lounge is hidden on level 4 and features a jaw dropping terrace overlooking Collins Street which resembles Albus Dumbledore’s headmasters office, the perfect spot for all Harry Potter fans to re-enact their favourite scenes with the late great wizard.

Hidden away in an alcove inside the Winfield building, step into the award winning bar named Market Lane Bar and feel like you’re being let in on one of Melbourne’s best kept hidden secrets. Voted “Best Hotel Bar 2017” by Tourism Accommodation Australia (Vic), Market Lane Bar showcases understated luxury and provides guests with an intimate bar experience.

To truly bring Harry Potter and the Cursed Child the life, the team of resident mixologists are brewing cocktails and potions mixed with unicorn blood and liquid luck, even He Who Must Not Be Named would be afraid to try.

The “Mysterious Potions and Cocktails” menu includes Headmaster’s Lemon Sherbet Sour, Rialto Butter-Craft-Beer, Dark Magic, Green Mayhem Brew and The Love Potion, available in Market Lane Bar every Monday – Saturday from 4.30pm.

The hotel’s Alluvial Restaurant, nestled between the two wings of the hotel and positioned under the soaring glass atrium showcases meals to compliment Melbourne’s electric dining scene and marks a strong resemblance to Hogwart’s Great Hall. Alluvial takes inspiration from the diverse cultures that make Melbourne eating so unique and will be showcasing a quick service theatrical pre-theatre dining menu available from 5.30pm.

The theatrical pre-theatre menu includes 2 charms, guests start with a beautiful smoked beef strip-loin dish caught from the Dark Forest and then finish with the Lemon treacle tart housed in a dark arts prophecy orb – the big finale is when the golden elixir is poured over the orb to uncover the hidden prophecy. Available every evening from 5.30pm-7pm.

Based on an original new story by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is now playing at Melbourne’s Princess Theatre.

Melbourne is only the third city to welcome the critically acclaimed play following its world premiere in London in July 2016, where it continues to play to sold-out houses, and its New York opening in April 2018.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is the most awarded production in the history of Britain’s Olivier Awards, winning a record breaking nine awards including Best New Play and Best Director. The Play won six Tony Awards on Broadway, including best play.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is the eighth story in the Harry Potter series and the first official Harry Potter story to be presented on stage. The production is one play presented in two Parts, which are intended to be seen in order on the same day (matinee and evening) or on two consecutive evenings.

Now playing at Melbourne’s Princess Theatre, home of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child in Australia.
