The Summer of Tennis

The summer tennis season starts with the warm up tournament for the Australian Open – The Kooyong Classic. At Kooyong (12-15 January) you will have an excellent opportunity to see many of the world’s best tennis players in an intimate setting.

Kooyong is followed by one of only four Grand Slam tennis tournaments around the world – The Australian Open 2016 (18-31 January). As an Official Accommodation Supplier to Australian Open Tennis we are proud to welcome the opening Grand Slam of the year back to Melbourne.

Andy Warhol and Ai Weiwei at the NGV

The city is abuzz with this latest blockbuster exhibition. Developed by Melbourne’s very own NGV with the Andy Warhol Museum and Ai Wewei, it is an original, inspiring parallel of work between two artists of the 20th and 21st centuries respectively.

Andy Warhol is famous for inventing pop art via an incredible body of work revolving around American Life whilst Ai Weiwei’s art makes an often controversial comment on the ‘Chinese Century’ to come.

The NGV is excellent at developing a wider program from their exhibitions. ‘Friday Nights’ sees art married with music via performances from hip bands like Jack Ladder & The Dreamlanders; whilst the series of films, talks and art classes keeps the deeper thinkers enthralled, educated and amused.

The exhibition is on until the 24th April.

Australia v India – Cricket at the MCG

India dominates as our guest and rival at the MCG this January with two spectacular matches.

Firstly, the One Day International (or Melbourne ODI for those in the know) comes to the MCG on the 17th January. This is the third game of five in this series so is sure to make for exciting viewing.

The 29th January sees the KFC T20 International Series he held at the ‘G’. Australia and India face each other for the second match in the series. Given that it is only 20 overs per team, it’s sure to be a thrilling and fast match as the teams try to score as many runs as possible with each bat.
