Melbourne is at it’s most stylish in November as the month starts with the Melbourne Cup Carnival. Melbourne Music Week starts in the second week of the month and there are also some interesting exhibitions happening across the city. Here are some recommendations from our Concierge team.

Melbourne Cup Carnival
Key racing dates:
Melbourne Cup Day – 1st, Oaks Day – 3rd and Stakes Day – 5th at Flemington Racecourse

Melbourne’s most glamorous sporting event, this is a highlight of the social and sporting calendar. Get swept up in the excitement and magic of spring in Melbourne as you don your best accessories and head to the track. The races at Flemington kicked off on the last weekend of October with Derby Day and continue into early November. Melbourne Cup Day, the race that stops the nation, is the highlight event.

John Olsen: The You Beaut Country
Running until February 12, 2017 at the Ian Potter Centre, Federation Square

‘John Olsen: The You Beaut Country’ offers an unparalleled opportunity to examine Olsen’s consummate place in Australian art history. The series, which he began in 1960, kicked off what would be a lifelong interest in representing the landscape and Australian identity. These works are presented alongside his more recent paintings, prints and watercolours.
